November and December Tag Swap

Check out these nifty tags I received from my November and December Tag Swap partner, Myra. She had some very clever ideas.

Here's a JUMBO tag for a gigantic gift. So cute. :-) THANKS MYRA.

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and may you all be blessed with good health, safety, and prosperity throughout the new year.
I'm almost done attacking my "to do" list during my vacation. Yay!!!!

Happy Holidays

Do you ever feel like you have special powers sometimes? Well, I gotta share this story. Actually, it's kind of funny to me.

A few months ago, my hubby's co-worker, Missy, applied for a new job. During their lunch break they were talking about it and my hubby told her, "Oh, I should ask my wife to pray for you so you get the job because I think she has powers." He came home from work that evening and told me I needed to pray for Missy. I was like, HUH???? When he told me the story I had to LAUGH and said, "Are you nuts?" He said, "No, I told Missy you have powers so you better pray for her." I thought it was hilarious and said, "OK, I'll pray for her and let's see if she gets the job." HOLY MOLY, about a week later she said she got the job and was soooooo happy and even thanked me. :-)

THEN, this evening my hubby came home and told me I had to pray for Missy's cousin. He heard (from Missy) that I had powers and wants me to pray for him to get a job he recently applied for. I was shocked and said, "You must be kidding." My hubby said, "No, I told Missy you were going to pray for her cousin. He needs all the help he can get." He added, "OK, if he gets the job, I'll really be convinced." OMG...THIS IS TOO FUNNY.

OK, I'll keep you posted once we find out if he got the job or not.

Now for the card. Can you tell I'm having fun with my snowflake embossing folder? Here's a simple card. The branch image is by Hero Arts, colored with Copics, and I used a little bit of Stickles on the ornaments. This is one of my favorite Spellbinder die. If you click on the picture to zoom in, you'll get a better view of the snowman button (shank removed) on a glittery snowflake.

Okie dokie, have a great evening / day.

Sparkling Holographic Card

Last Christmas, one of my sons gave me a bunch of scrapbooking/cardmaking goodies. Thought I'd make a card out of this large holographic ornament.

The ornament is by Jolee's by You and the white background is embossed with my snowflake embossing folder by Sizzix. The leaf punch is by EK Success and accented with a gold trimmed ribbon.

November and December Tag Swap

Oh dear, Christmas is next weekend already. I better get my holiday stuff posted before then.

My November and December Tag Swap partner was Myra. Here's what I made for her.

The Christmas tree stamp is an oldie but goodie. It's colored with Copics and stuck on some itty bitty rhinestones for the ornaments. The Spellbinder die used on the red border is one of my newest. Just love the details. :-)

And here are candy cane tags also colored with Copics. I accented them with Crystal Stickles for a little sparkle. Of course, gotta use the Spellbinder dies too.

Hoping to post a few more Christmasy things before 12/25.

"Sweet Christmas Wishes" Card

Time to take a break from my year-end house cleaning which includes a bunch of "extra" stuff aside from the usual weekly chores. The "do to" list is L-O-N-G and I think we've tackled more than half.....yay!!!

I'm really hooked on embossing folders. Here's a picture of the card I made and sent to friends and family. It took several weeks to complete 30 of them. Thank you to all who emailed your compliments......made my day. :-)

For the front of the matchbook style card I used the Sizzix embossing folder, cookie platter stamp by Hero Arts, Sweet Christmas Wishes stamp by Dandelion Design, Copic markers, Spellbinder dies, snowflake punch by Marvy Uchida, and ribbon.

Inside is a sentiment from "1,000 Card Quotes" by Hot Off the Press, and a yummy recipe for Melt'um Sugar Cookies. Wife of my hubby's boss made some for us and it was soooooooo good and just melts in your mouth. Of course I had to ask for the recipe.

THANKS CHAR

Char was the winner of my recent blogaversary candy. I'm happy it gave her a much needed lift. How sweet of her to send me this CUTE card. I love the image and simple layout.

She also included this stand-up Hello Kitty calendar. Neat idea. I might just copy it one day. :-)
I'm saving the card with my "collection" and after 2011 is over, the calendar will be added too.
THANKS CHAR!!!

Holiday Goodies for the Staff

I work for a great firm. Our boss treats us to lunch every quarter. So thoughtful yah? Well, since Christmas is just around the corner, I baked a batch of Sugar Cookies with green and red sugar sprinkles for the staff. Oh, that's so much fun!!!!

The front of the label is stamped with a peppermint candy flower and "Sweet Christmas Wishes" image by Dandelion Designs, embossed, and colored with Copics. I also used Spellbinder dies and crystal Stickles.

Here's the back of the label. The image is by TAJ and of course it's colored with Copics. I must've had this stamp for at least 10 years......oldie but goodie. :-)

Gotta go and continue watching Hawaii Five-O. I think the remake is better that the original.
Have a nice day!!!!

Happy Snowman

Ohhhh, I just love Christmas. I remember when our 3 sons were little, my in-laws paid us a surprise visit. My very slim father-in-law was dressed up as Santa with a big pillow by his belly while my mother-in-law waited in the car across the street giggling. There was a knock on the front door. Much to our surprise, it was Santa with his bag of presents for the boys. "HO, HO, HO", he said and came into the house. He asked them if they were good. Startled and overjoyed, they said, "Yes." He gave them lots of presents and told them to always be good and listen to Mommy and Daddy. About 15 minutes after Santa went on his merry way, Grandma and Grandpa showed up. The boys told them Santa was just here. Cute yah?

The smile on the snowman's face reminds my of my late father-in-law.
The snowman stamp is by TGF which I colored with my Copic markers. The "warm wishes" stamp is also by TG which I embossed to give it a nice gloss. Just can't have enough Spellbinder dies. In fact, I had to get larger tray for my collection. The white background is embossed using the "Polka Dots" embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I LOVE dots. The edger punch is by EK Success and finally the snowflakes are buttons by Dress It Up with the shanks removed. I'm getting more of these buttons. They're GREAT.

Frolicking in the Peppermint Candy Patch

Sigh, I'm so full from eating so much. I feel like a stuffed turkey. :-) Is everyone headed for the mall tomorrow to battle the crowd on Black Friday?

I spent the day cooking but still had time to make cards. Here's a pop-up (or should I say "stand-up") card which would actually make a cute desk decor. The peppermint candy flowers is a stamp that I stamped twice. I went on the Dandelion Designs blog and saw the cute, cute stamp and found it at Ben Franklin. I'm having fun using button embellishments and Flower Soft for snow. There really give the card a 3D effect.

Well, I better hit the sack. I'm doing some shopping early tomorrow morning.
Happy shopping!!! WOO-HOOO!!!

Here are the supplies I used for this card.......
Peppermint Candy stamp by Dandelion Designs
Copic markers
Snowman button by Dress It Up with shank removed
Spellbinder die
Distress Ink
Paper by Imaginisce
Snow by Flower Soft

Let it Snow

Ohhhh, last weekend, I took a class at Island Scrapbooking to learn how to use Distress Ink. I've seen samples of cards using them but couldn't figure out the technique. Boy, am I glad I took the class.

On my first card.....the "guinea pig" card, I had to toss it. It didn't turn out well because I distressed the entire background in blue. When I added the "snow," the blue showed thru. I should've known.....duh.

Soooo, on the card below, I cut out white cardstock, then stuck on the house, trees, and snowman, then used Tacky glue and "Flower Soft" for the snow. I'm so happy Ben Franklin had one last container of white just waiting for me to buy it. :-) It really looks like snow. YAY!!!!
That was FUN!!!

So here's all the goodies I used for this card:
House stamp by Hero Arts
Snowflake stamp by Stampin' Up
Distress Ink
Copic markers
Trees and snowman are buttons by Dress It Up with the shanks removed
Tacky glue
Flower Soft for Snow
Ribbon

Happy Birthday Jenny

Yesterday was Jenny's birthday (Crazy for Paper) and here's the card I made for her. I call her the "Stamping Queen" because she is soooo amazing. I can't believe all the awesome things she produces so often.....just like a machine. I really don't think she sleeps. :-)

For the front of the card I used the stamp by CC Designs, Copics, Flowers by Mulberry Bear, fern punch by Martha Stewart, pearls by Hero Arts, Lace punch by Martha Stewart, floral paper by DCWV-Glitter Stack, Spellbinder dies, and the lavender paper is embossed with Texturz Background by Stampin' Up. May have to click on the pic to enlarge to see the embossing.
For the inside, I used a gift card pocket die by Sizzix, Spellbinder die, flower basket and monkey stamps by Dandelion Designs, Copics, sentiment by Hero Arts, corner punch by EK Success, and ribbon.
Jenny, hope you had a nice dinner, with big piece of cake and a gigantic scoop of ice cream.

Triangle Favor Box

Hope you're all having a nice weekend and staying "dry." Boy, we are sure getting a LOT of rain. That's OK though, we need it.

Yesterday, I went to 3 craft fairs. I didn't buy much but it's always fun to see all the neat stuff those creative crafters make. So inspiring. I was hoping to get home to watch the ending of the football game (Hawaii vs Boise State)......well, until I called home only to find out we were getting "smashed." So that's when I decided to go to the 3rd craft fair. Being in a family full of football fanatics (hubby and 3 grown sons), I kinda got hooked to football (UH Hawaii only) a few years ago after one of my sons explained more about the sport that made it more enjoyable for me.

I'm finally playing with my Scor-Pal again. Gotta start out with some easy stuff. Hope to "graduate" to the next "level" soon. LOL. I also used one of my new Spellbinder dies that I got at Island Scrapbookings anniversary sale a couple of weekends ago. LOVE IT!!!!

Halloween Goodie Basket......and Buddy

Gee, Halloween is this weekend already and I haven't posted anything Halloweeny. The other weekend, Jenny had a "make 'n take" which was a cute little basket at Island Scrapbooking's Anniversary Sale. I missed out since I was shopping for so long...... :-)

Then last week while blog hopping I happened to come across the tutorial for that same basket. What luck yah? So I made this basket this evening. Oh, and it was soooo easy. Click here for the tutorial.

Supplies:
Spellbinder dies
Punch by Martha Stewart
Copic Markers
Brads
Stamp by ???? I got a set of Halloween stamps at a garage sale.

WAIT.....don't leave yet. :-)

Earlier this month, my two nieces from Oahu, ages 8 and 6, spent a week with us during school break. As I mentioned in my earlier post, Dallas just TOTALLY LOVES our pooch, Buddy and can spend the entire day with him. Well, she called and asked my son to email a picture of him to her. So he decided to get a little creative and got him dressed up for Halloween. :-)

Does anyone want is "pawtograph?" HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Sakura Birthday Card

Breaks over. It's time for me to post a card again.

I made this for my friend and part of her gift. Her birthday was on 8/29 but since I've been "hung up" with my fractured ankle I'm finally gonna take her out to lunch next weekend. I'm so happy because I no longer have to use that big 'ol clunky boot. I've "graduated" to an ankle brace which is sooooo much more comfortable. Whew, what a relief.

Hello Kitty Ornaments for Hale Anuenue

Happy Hump Day! Whew, I'll be glad when this week is over. Moving office is taking a toll on me.

At our last FCE club meeting we decided to once again decorate a HUGE Christmas tree at Hale Anuenue (nursing home) among other things. We chose an Asian theme. I really scored when I went to Island Scrapbooking to find this die on sale. Cha-ching....I had to get it. One of the girls suggested making an ornament using Japanese characters. So with that in mind, I incorporated both along with origami paper and came up with these. Jenny (Crazy for Paper) will think I'm nuts because I had to cut two pieces for each ornament. Jenn, I made 23 ornaments. It was suppose to be 24 but I messed up on one. Whew, that took a long time. In fact, I think I pulled a muscle on my shoulder cranking out so many Hello Kitty's and had to use Tokuhon...stinky stuff. I'm all better now. LOL.

My mom's birthday is coming up next week and I wanted to make a special card for her. I've been wanting to make a card using lace but haven't been out much since I fractured my ankle. Getting around wearing the big and heavy "boot" is quite cumbersome.

Well, I had to go to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought this pretty lace there. Looks pretty elegant yah? I hope mom likes the card.

Since we've become partners just a few weeks ago, we've emailed each other several times. Gee, I feel like I've know her all my life now. And what a coincidence that we graduated from the same high school just 3 years apart. How neat is that?

Do you believe in "blessings in disguise?" I sure do. After fracturing my ankle when our pooch, Buddy knocked me off my feet, I was fortunate enough to work from home. Now it'll be a permanent thing. YEAAAHHH. Once I can get rid of the cumbersome"boot" I'm wearing, I plan to buy him a HUGE munchy bone as his "reward." LOL. I'll be spending the weekend cleaning up to make space for my new desk. More cards for Hospice

Hope you're all enjoying the nice L-O-N-G weekend. We just returned from Oahu last night after attending my niece's wedding. It was a very short trip. The wedding was held at the Pearl Country Club and the food was soooooo YUMMY. That's the best Prime Rib I had in a years. In fact, my hubby and son HAD TO go for seconds. By the end of the evening they were hurting from eating so much. LOL. I should've taken a picture of the painful look on their faces. :-)

I can't walk long distances with my "boot" as I'm still recovering from my fractured ankle. It's a good thing I requested a wheelchair at both airports. I was quite reluctant as I don't like to be "in the spotlight" but very glad I did.

Late "Breaking" News.....LOL

Many times, when I put up a post, I'm literally stuck for words. Well, I DO have a story to share now.

First of all, I was soooo looking forward to this long weekend and had plans to go to Island Scrapbooking for their Admission's Day Sale. All of that changed in an instant.

Yesterday, after I got home from work, I was walking on the sidewalk in front of our precious pooch, Buddy when he suddenly ran between my legs. I fell in a very awkward way and knew it was a bad fall because I heard and felt a snap. My son had to help me up and I hung onto him as I literally hopped into the house.

Since my hubby was all sweaty and stinky from mowing the lawn, my son took me to the Urgent Care Center where x-rays confirmed a "spiral fracture." I left with a "boot" to temporarily stabilize my ankle until I can get a cast put on next Monday.

My son will pick up crutches for me today so I can get around with more ease. Until then, if I need to get around the house, I'll hop and hold onto whatever I can. If there's nothing to hold, I do the "Army Crawl." I must say, I crack up laughing doing the crawl. Gives my son a good chuckle too. I'll be ready for basic training in a few weeks. LOL.

I feel so fortunate to have a great, caring, and helpful hubby (retired Paramedic) and sons.

So here's a picture of my stylish and fashionable "boot" next to my ugly, bony, dry skin leg. Hmmm, my right foot looks crooked yah and I should've put skin lotion first. Hee-hee. Oh what the heck, give everyone a good laugh. ROL.

And here's lovable, precious, playful, energetic, and innocent Buddy. I still think he's soooooo cute.
If you have a pooch, be careful if he/she is behind you. Don't want anyone to get "attacked from the rear" like me. :-)
Well, I better go elevate my feet again. Hope you all have a "scrap happy" day.
Karen :-)
