Happy Harumi

Did you ever see a live Taiko performance?   Oh boy, my friend and I went to one this past weekend and were totally entertained.   It was a sell-out crowd and I'm so glad my friend, Lee told me about it.   She belongs one of the performing groups.   Everyone is amazingly talented.  I'm always in awe watching all of their moves.....so much for them to memorize.  WOW!

Sharing with you today is a card I made featuring Harumi by Sister Stamps.  This is from their most recent release.   What a cutie and such a sweet pose.

Trivia question:.  Guess what my favorite dressing is?   Do you think I have enough???

A couple of years ago, my hubby and I went to Japan.  We had a salad with some kind of sesame dressing. Oh, it was so oishii (delicious).  Since then, I'm been hunting around for them here in Hilo.   Nothing came closer than this Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing by Kewpie.   It felt like I hit the jackpot so when they go on sale, I hoard.    LOL.  Plus, when my hubby puts dressing on his salad, he drowns it...tsk, tsk.  That's a no-no.  Ha-ha.  :-)   I still need to try the recipe Leanne posted on FB.  That one looks good too.  Thanks Leanne.

Thanks for popping in for a visit and HAVE A SCRAP HAPPY DAY.

A "Flip" Thank You Card and Pets that Get Along (OMG)

Here's a flip card that I made recently using the flip die by Sizzix.  The person I gave this to is super sweet so I thought using this colorful DP by Doodlebug and fairy image by TGF would be perfect for her.  The scallop border punch is by Martha Stewart, and cloud die is by Joy Crafts (from my sweet cuz).  Oh, the mushroom image is by TGF too.

Here's a pix as you pull the two sides out to flip the circle.

And here's the flip side.  The ribbon is by Offray, the charm is from an earring I got from a local store that recently closed (steal of a deal), and the branch and flowers are by Cheery Lynn from Eunice.   I totally love this die....one of my favorites for sure.  Check out her blog, you'll be INSPIRED! She makes really fancy stuff.

On to the pets.   During my recent trip to Oahu, my son took me to his place for a quick stop.  Here's a pix of his and his girlfriend's house cats. Ripley on the left and Eli on the right which they got from the shelter. Awww, so cute.

Meet Papaya, their roommate, Jason's bird which he lets out of his cage occasionally.  Brave birdie.

EEEEEK, and meet Jango and Boba, they're 2 BIG pet rats.   Occasionally, they get to roam outside their cage too.  OMGosh, they are huge.  Please don't let them out when I'm there.   Eeeek, eeeek, eeek.  So amazing that the cats just won't bother the bird and rats.  Heck, if I were a cat and encountered rats that size, I'd run the other way.  Hee-hee.

Love Is Sweet - A Celebration with My Hubby

Well, hubby and I decided to go out to dinner last night rather than on Monday since it just worked out better for us.  Plus, it was rainy all day on Monday (holiday).

For starters, I gave him this CAS card.  I totally LOVE this image by LOTV.   I think it's perfect for him because he loves to go fishing.  Guess you could say that's us in the boat.  Forget the fishing though, we're toasting to "us" in celebration of Valentine's Day, the anniversary of our first date (2/15), and our wedding anniversary (2/16).  CHEERS TO MY DEAR HUBBY.  MUAH!

And boy did he surprise me yesterday at work when a guy from a local florist delivered this gorgeous bouquet of flowers.  The first thing I said with my "big" eyes was, "What?  For me?????"   LOL.

We were both craving Japanese food so we dined at Miyo's.   Here's a pix of our appetizer....Deep Fried Tofu.  Oh, the sauce is soooo ono, we were trying to figure out the recipe.   I'm gonna try and see if I can.  Hee-hee.  Wish me luck.

Here's the Teishoku dish my hubby ordered.  It comes with Sashimi, Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura.  Then we chose 2 others items from the menu.  He chose Chicken Katsu and Sesame Chicken.

I also ordered the Teishoku and my two choices were Beef Teriyaki and Chicken Teriyaki.   'kay, I'll share a little something about me.   I don't eat sashimi.   I like my food cooked.  LOL.   So I gave it to my hubby.
Everything was super yummy.  There was no room in our tummy for dessert and we practically rolled out of there.

Thanks for stopping by and HAVE A SCRAP HAPPY DAY!

I'm so excited to share with you a card a made for her using one of the many goodies she sent to me.   Here's Tilda which I inked with Copics and splashed on a little bouquet of flowers.  For added texture, I used Stickles on the edge of the oval frame and of course, sprinkled on some FRAN-TAGE from Ben Franklin Craft.      Other crafty products used:  DP from stash, glittered scallop embellie by K & Co., Spellbinder dies, pearls by Kaiser Crafts, Lace by Simplicity, butterfly punch by Marthy Stewart,
Love ticket by Tim Holtz, Baby's Breath Flower die by Cheery Lynn, and flowers by Prima, Inky Impressions, and All Natural Accent.

Here's the flip side.  Total sweetness!

CAS Notepad Favors

Hope you all had a "lovely" Valentine's Day with your loved ones.   My hubby and I usually don't do anything on Valentine's Day since our wedding anniversary is just a couple of days after, yup tomorrow.  So we'll celebrate both special occasions then....well actually on Monday.  We're still trying to decide where to eat.  Today though, is the anniversary of our first date, many years ago.   Guess you could say it'll be a triple celebration.  I'll post the card I made for him in a few days.

Here's a pix of a CAS notepad I made for a recent little birthday celebration we had last week for my dear co-worker.  I got some packs of notepads from Ace Hardware (in the dollar section) months ago and added a cover using a DP by Doodlebug.  Also, inked this cute chick by Dandelion Designs with Copics.  For the "Notes" tab, I used Label One die by Spellbinder.  Topped it off with corrugated paper from my stash.  I kept it simple so I wouldn't cover the sweet design on the DP.  Cute yah?

Here are 7 of them.   Do you notice there's one with a blue flower and yellow border?  That's for the guy in our office.   Hee-hee, tried to make it more "manly."   :-)

And here they are packaged with an assortment of colored pens.......

I'm glad they all loved it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you all have a WONDERFUL and CRAFTY LONG WEEKEND.   Toodles.

"I Love You"

Hey Peeps!   Hope you all had a fun weekend.   I made a last-minute trip to visit my Mom on Oahu.  Got there mid-morning yesterday and returned this afternoon...yup, another whirlwind trip, but fun.  We (Mom, my son, his girlfriend, and I) spent some quality time together.  Hubby was unable to go this time, shucks.  We took her to lunch yesterday and today.  Also, visited my dad's grave to put flowers.  No craft shopping this time but that's OK, it was a "for Mom only" trip.  :-)  Awwwwm she was so happy.....yay!

Here's a Valentine's Day card I made.  I'm sure having fun making cards with "a scene within a scene."  The image is by LOTV which I inked up with Copics.  It's been a while since I stitched a card so I busted out my sewing machine for this one.  The DP is by Bo Bunny....bold red yah?  Love it.  Since this a Valentine's Day card, I thought the fence die with little heart cut-outs by Magnolia would be perfect.  The quote bubble is by Hero Arts.   The set comes with an assortment of bubble shape and quotes but for this card, I inked only the edge of one bubble and used my own sentiment by Stampettes.

Other fun and crafty products used....
Grass stamps by Viva Las Vegasstamps
Flower die by Poppy Stamps from Island Scrapbooking
Butterfly punch by EK
Pearl by Kaiser Crafts

A Birthday Card for My Awesome Co-Worker

We had a little celebration at work today to celebrate one of my co-workers birthday.  She is an amazing person; so knowledgeable, competent, efficient, kind-hearted, super helpful, funny, and a Jack-of-All-Trades, Master of All.  I'm so lucky to work with such a great bunch of  people.

I made this card for for her and so happy she loved it.  In fact, she said she has a "Wall of Karen" by her desk with all the little crafty things I've shared with the staff over the years.   Hee-hee, how cute is that?  Made my day.

Here's a close-up of the flowers and flourish.   The charm is one that I made from a necklace that I cut and added a crystal bead which is part of a prize I won from Lynn of Lynn's Craft Blog.   I'll be posting that in the upcoming week or so.  Check out Lynn's blog and see all of her inspiring creations.  She's super creative.
And don't forget to leave a comment.  You might just be the next lucky winner.

A Thank You Card for my Sweet Cuz

Hooray, I got my computer back today and don't have to use our "Old Faithful."  LOL.    Apparently, the bad weather we had a few weeks ago did something to my power source.   I initially thought it crashed and I lost everything on the hard drive including the picture of this card that I had mailed and deleted from my camera.    Whew....all is GOOD!  YAY!!!

So onto my card.   I made this for my sweet cuz who surprised me again with more goodies she sent last month from Cute Stuff which recently closed its doors.  The image by Penny Johnson and sentiment by Lawn Fawn are part of the bundle she sent me.   I inked up this cutie little bear with Copics.

OMGosh, January came and went in a blur.  This morning I awoke to find a beautiful snow-capped Mauna Kea here on the Big Island.  Yup, snow in Hawaii.  What a breath-taking sight.

Sharing with you today is a Valentine's Day card.  The image is by Sweet November Stamps which I inked up with Copics.  Thought a bird DP would fit well so I chose this one from my stash.  The sentiment is by Inkadinkado.

Other crafty products used:
Heart die cut from my stash
Flowers by Inky Impressions and stash
Leaf punch by Martha Stewart
