Cherry Blossom Card

Happy Thursday. Yay, it's almost the weekend!!!! Hope you're all having a great week. Here's a simple card I made for my March Secret Sister Swap (plus a couple of stamps.....forgot to take a picture....oops). I got the idea from Don, a customer at Island Scrapbooking. His card background was more detailed but I chose to use a textured tan paper instead. I also sent one to my mom and she loved the "simplicity." Supplies: Sakura and stamen punch by Punch Bunch, Branch die by Sizzix (Branch/Cherry Blossom), Butterfly punch by Martha Stewart, and Rhinestones by Mark Richards

Butterfy Challenge

Hey All....Lollipop Crafts is hosting another fun challenge. This week, Denise is hosting Challenge #31-Butterflies. All you need to do is create a card, 3-D item, scrapbook page, etc. using butterflies. Hop on over to Lollipop Crafts for the simple rules. A prize will be given to one lucky random winner. This week's challenge is sponsored by Robyn Fetish. Thanks a bundle Robyn.

Well, I must say that this is my very FIRST challege so I'm really excited and HOPE I do it right. Let's see if I can follow instructions. LOL.

I had a bear stamp with a butterfly on his nose so I thought it would be a perfect image for this challenge. Then I just kept adding and adding to the card and finished with the tiny butterflies. I should tell you that I ALMOST sold that little butterfly punch at a garage sale that's coming up this weekend mainly because I don't ever recall using it since I got it a long time ago AND I thought the antennas were too short.....they're just little stubs. Hee-hee. BUT as I looked thru my stuff one last time, a "little voice" told me not to sell it. Oh wow, it's a good thing because I got to use it on this card. Whew!!! If you enlarge the picture, you can see the pearls on the butterflies too.

I used a bunch of things for this creation.....
Bear and hedgehog stamps by Penny Black
Sun stamp by Hero Arts
"Hello from the Heart" stamp by Hero Arts
Grass stamp by Viva Las Vegas Stamps (I think)
Fence and grass punch by Martha Stewart
Copic markers
Bitterfly punch (sorry no brand name on the punch)
Spellbinder dies
Pearls by Hero Arts
Distress Ink
Neon Green Flourescent Embossing Powder by Zing
Buttons for flowers by Dress It Up
Carpet thread
Pop Up dots
Chalk (green and blue)

Sneak Peek

Our FCE Fair is coming up on May 7 so I thought I'd better get my wheels spinning and start "producing." LOL Here's the first thing I made. These magnetic note holders are made with clothes pins. There's a piece of a magnet strip adhered to the back. What a great way to use your scrap pieces of ribbon and paper for the labels.

All of the pins have a strip of ribbon taped to the front side. The cute butterflies are buttons I got at Wal-mart and removed the shanks. Oh, but I was like "oh-ohhhhh" when the body of the butterfly fell off once the shank was removed. Think, think, think, I used this strong liquid glue called Zip Dry from Island Scrapbooking to stick the body back on. Mission accomplished. YAY!

The slipper embellie is from Kawai Hawaii in Aiea. Gee, I can't remember when I bought them....many moons ago.
The flower on the noteholder below is also a button. I glued the center on after removing the shank.

Check out these Hanfuda cards. I found a bunch of these plastic ones stashed away.

Here's a couple more embellies (flower and flowers in watering can) from Kawaii Hawaii.

OK, that's it for now. Better plan what to make next and oh, oh, oh, NEED to Hawaii Five-O. It's coming up soon. :-)
Have a Scrap Happy Day.
Karen

Floral Thank You Card

Happy Sunday All!!!

Hope you're having a GREAT weekend. Aside from the usual marketing, cleaning house (blah) I spent some time making things for our upcoming FCE Fair. Hoping to post pictures soon....IF my stuff comes out decent. LOL.

Below is a card I recently made and sent for the Secret Sister Swap that Kris coordinates. I don't know how she manages all that she does with her busy, busy, busy, busy, busy schedule. I call her Wonder Woman, just like Jenny.....compliment. :-) :-)

The floral image is by Stampin' Up (Asian Artistry Set). I also used Copic markers and love how the purple turned out. Still trying to work on my shading. :-)
Other supplies:
Thank you stamp by Hero Arts (I think.....don't have the pkg. label anymore)
Butterfly and lace punch by Martha Stewart
Rhinestones
Paper by DCWV (bottom) and Stampin' Up (top)

Happy Easter

Hi All,
Once again, our awesome boss took the staff out to lunch. We went to Miyo's this time and guess what I had? Yep, Shrimp Tempura again. I gotta admit, I was eyeballing my friends veggie dish. I'm gonna order that next time........I think. :-) I enjoy making the staff a "little something" and am glad I have them to share my creations with.

I made an Easter theme basket. Guess it's a bit early for Easter because the boss asked, "When is Easter?" :-)

The chick image is by Dandelion Designs and paper by DCWV Ultimate Stack. Also, used Spellbinder dies, Copic markers, and punch by Martha Stewart.

Mahalo Colleen

My February Secret Sister, Colleen, sent me a pkg. of neat things....chipboard with glitter accents, yummy box of Mrs. Field's candy to satisfy my sweet tooth, bag of Peppermint Patties between stamped circle scallops, pretty pink card, and a tiny note card. I'm so thankful for all of my Secret Sister's generosity. Thank you very much.

Thank you Nanea

Wanted to share the neat goodies I got from Nanea. She was my Secret Sister in January. Sorry, I'm a bit late in posting. She so generously gave me a set of Easter stamps, "Hello Friend" stamp, and a chipboard notepad. They're GREAT and I love 'em!!! THANKS NANEA!!!!!

Awesome Swap from Secret Sister Kim

I was so excited when I received the pkg. from Kim, my "Secret Sister" for December. OMG, her cards are out of this world. Check 'em out.

I may just copy this jumbo clip idea for our upcoming FCE Fair. It's a great way to use my little pieces of paper. People who know me know that I'm a "note person." So I think I'll put these on my work desk, computer desk, kitchen counter, and craft desk. PERFECT!!!!

Look at these pretty roses. I think they're made with nylon fabric. You can scrunch it and it'll still keep it's shape. NEAT!!!
Between the nylon roses is a pkg. of self-stick hearts. Great to add that extra pizazz to cards or other paper crafts.

THANKS A MILLION KIM!!!! I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU GAVE ME AND YOUR GENEROSITY BLEW ME AWAY.
I'll be posting other neat goodies I received from my Jan. and Feb. "Secret Sisters" soon. If you want to join in on the fun, check out Kris' blog.

Gardening with the Little Pooch

Hope you're all having a nice and relaxing Sunday. My morning was spent in the kitchen. I was in the mood for making some munchies for the guys in my family so I whipped up some Spinach Dip and Flan this morning.

Also got some Corned Beef going in the slow cooker. This is one of my favorite dishes. I can eat it for days without getting tired of it. Ha-ha, but those who know me know that I don't like "fat" in my food (ex: chicken skin, fat on pork butt, steak, etc.). I cut 'em off and toss it when hubby isn't looking. Hee-hee. So here's what I do with the Corned Beef Brisket. You know it has all that yummy "meat" stuck in the marbled "fat." Well, after it's fully cooked, I remove it from the cooker, let it cool a bit, then "pull" the meat out and toss the fat. When my brother-in-law heard about that he said, "WHAT??? That's the best part. She's nuts." :-)

Oh, I wanted to share the pretty Cherry Blossoms from our yard. A friend of mine gave me a cutting at least 8 years ago. Every year I'd wait for a full blooming tree like others in our area but all we'd get was just one flower here and a couple there. Well, this year, though our tree still looks kind of bald, it's the most blossoms we've had and I can see LOTS of buds on the branches. YAY!!!

This is a Sara Kay stamp that I got from Munchkins just a couple of months before her store closed. I love Sara Kay designs, they're so cute. Of course I had to add the little pooch by Dandelion Designs. It reminds me of our dog, Buddy.

Other supplies:
Spellbinder dies
Copic markers
Flower punch by Marvy Uchida
Stamen punch by Punch bunch. I got this at Island Scrapbooking for my sakura punch but hey,
it goes with any kind of flowers. Love it!!!
