Taiko Fever

This past weekend, my friends and I went to the Taiko Festival in Hilo.  I always look forward to it because it is so entertaining and you can just feel the energy all of the drummers pour out into their performances.   Having had Taiko Fever after the festival, I was compelled to make a taiko card.  So I inked up Ai by Sister Stamps.  Also used the following dies:  "Stitched Rectangle Frame" by Die-namics, "Party Lantern" by Poppy Stamps, and "Landscape Trio" by Mama Elephant.  All from Island Scrapbooking.

Ayako Shaker Card

Hey Peeps!  Hope you all have some fun things planned for this long Memorial Day weekend.

It's been a while since I made a shaker card so I gave it a shot by inking up Ayako by Sister Stamps, used washi paper from my stash, "Flowers #3" die by Sizzix, and cupped sequins.  Easy.

Recently, I thought to myself, 'Hey, if I can make charms for my cards, I should be able to make earrings."  Right?  It has been years since I wore earrings and just started wearing them again.  So I went to HM Ben Franklin Crafts the other day and today again, got some supplies, and used crystals and pearls that I already had.  The crystals are from a very special bloggie friend.  Thank you dear friend.  Ta-daaaa.   They're so fast and fun to make.

Thanks for stopping by and HAVE A FUN AND SCRAP HAPPY DAY.

May Secret Sister Swap

The Secret Sister Swap is so much fun especially not knowing who is my Secret Sister until the happy mail arrives.   Well, this month, I was Valerie's secret sister.  The theme was "birthday."   That was perfect because I was able to ink up "Tilly with Gift" by Wild Rose studio which I just bought from Eva recently.   Thank you Eva!  Also, be sure to visit her new Etsy Store "Simply Made Hawaii" featuring her beautiful handmade crafts....so awesome!

This stripe DP by Doodlebug really caught my eyes.  Just love the rainbow of colors.  Also, added a floral texture for the background using one of the embossing folders by Sizzix from my sweet cuz.

Other ingredients:
Copics
Edge punch by Stampin' Up
Word Bubble by Stampin' Up
Sentiment by Studio G
Candy bead embellies - RAK

These are the RAKs I included with my card.

When I received my happy mail from Mary Bennett, I was overjoyed with this awesome nostalgic easel card.   I do remember F.W. Woolworth store and their restaurant.  My friends and I enjoyed the best hot dogs on the YUMMIEST bun there.

And here's the card opened.   Even the Coca-Cola cutout stands up

Will enjoy some fruity tea that she sent too.   Thank you so much Mary!!!

Happy Birthday Colleen

My friend Colleen celebrated her birthday a couple of weeks ago......hmmm, make that an all month celebration.  LOL.   OMGosh, I don't know anyone else who celebrates their birthday for weeks. Glad you had a fabulous time celebrating Colleen.

Here's the card I made for her and sent with her gift.  I know she loves monkeys so this image by CC Designs was perfect for her card.  I also used the embossing folder from my sweet cuz, sentiment by Island Scrapbooking and DP from stash.

Thanks for stopping by and HAVE A SCRAP HAPPY DAY.

Mother's Day RAK

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you awesome Moms!   Hope you all have a nice and relaxing day! No cooking, no cleaning, kick up your feet, and be the "Queen for the Day."

I made some treat bags for my friends using the "Bag, Scalloped Handle" die by Sizzix from HM Ben Franklin Crafts.  Dressed it up with the "Spring Border" by Memory Box from Island Scrapbooking. I love charms and enjoy adding them to my cards or projects.  Using a necklace I purchased at Wal-mart, I removed a little section, added a tag (sentiment made on my computer), and hand-sewed it to the bow.

Each bag was filled with 2 individually wrapped chocolate-dipped cookies (YUM).  Here's a pix of the charms.   Also, mini tags die which I purchased from Eva.  I'm head-over-heels in love with this die.  THANKS EVA!

Thank You Card for Sweet Cuz and More Japan Pix

I knew I wanted to make an Asian scene thank you card for my sweet cuz so this was pretty much a no-brainer.   Using one of the dies from the Stitched Basic E set by Die-namic and one of the pretty embossing folders she so generously gave me for my b/d, I created this card for her.

Ingredients used for this card:
Ayako by Sister Stamps
"Woodland Branch," "Blooming Violet" dies by Memory Box
"Word Bubbles Framelits Dies" by Stampin' Up
Copics
Sentiment stamp by Mari & Me
Glittered Cherry Blossom laser cuts by and from Island Scrapbooking

Sharing more pix from our awesome Japan trip:

Korakuen incorporates the typical features of a Japanese landscape garden, including a large pond, streams, and walking path.

Also, a crane aviary....

Beautiful pine trees.....

Another shot of the beautiful pond and landscape....so tranquil.

At the souvenir / snack shop, we enjoyed some azuki beans with mochi and tea.

And their famous Peach Ice Cream cone.   Yummy.

This is a shot from one of our hotel room.....forgot which one.  We went to 5.
