Hey there everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.
A few days ago, I was so happy to have met
Cindy of Crafting in Waikiki while she was here on the Big Island. We initially met in blog land and it was so nice to have met her in person. She's super nice.
Last week, I purchased the landscape die set by Mama Elephant from Island Scrapbooking to create the hills and clouds as shown on this card. OK, I know clouds are supposed to be white but with card making, its anything goes....right? Since I couldn't resist using the checkered lavender and white DP to match the Kiyoko's kimono (color-wise), I thought the white clouds wouldn't stand out so I made blue clouds. LOL.
For another sample using this cool landscape die set, hop over to the
Island Scrapbooking blog to see a picture of a card that Don made and a pix of the die.
To create this fun summer grillin' scene, I used Kiyoko by
Sister Stamps, inked her up with Copics and paper-pieced her kimono with washi paper. In the actual image, she is holding 2 sparklers, one in each hand. I clipped off the sparklers and replaced them with a tong and spatula from the "Grill Master" die by Memory Box. This die comes with an apron and oven mitt too. Do you see the oven mitt hanging on the table? I made a hook for it using an itty-bitty piece of the smoke from the grill die and taped it to the table. Then added a single-strand of embroidery thread to create a loop for the oven mitt to hang onto the hook.
Other fun ingredients for this card:
"Party Grill" die by Memory Box
"Baby Kittens" die by Poppy Stamps
"Aston Side Table" die by Poppy Stamps
Sun die by Lawn Fawn "Spring Showers" set
And I made my own plate and burgers
All of the dies and washi paper are from Island Scrapbooking.
Hope you enjoyed this fun card. If you're in Hilo and would like to see this card "in real life," stop by Island Scrapbooking.
Thanks for stopping by and HAVE A SCRAP HAPPY DAY!
